DraftKings has won a stack of “best app” awards and, having used most of the competition, I think it earns them on performance if not on simplicity. Load times are quick, it stays stable during peak events like the Super Bowl when weaker apps stutter, and the search is the best in the business, type “LeBron points” and you’re straight on the market.
The trade-off is clutter. The home screen packs in featured games, live odds, trending parlays and promos all at once. For an experienced bettor that density is useful. For someone new, it’s a lot, and FanDuel‘s cleaner layout is friendlier to learn on. If you want to bet fast, Flash Bet strips the screen down to odds and a one-tap stake, handy, but it removes the confirmation step, so it’s easy to fire off a bet you didn’t mean to.

This is where DraftKings pulls ahead. On a major NFL or NBA game you get everything from standard spreads and totals through to deep player props, team props and live micro-markets. I won’t list every option, the point is that if there’s an angle you want to bet, DraftKings almost certainly has it, and often has it when rivals don’t.
Live betting is the highlight. Odds update smoothly, the cash-out values move in real time, and I’ve had very few of the frozen-market moments that plague some apps mid-game. If in-play is your main game, this is one of the best platforms in the US.
The feature I’d single out is SGP+: it lets you combine same-game parlays from different games into one slip. Most books won’t let you do that, and it opens up parlay ideas you can’t build elsewhere. Honest take: DraftKings is competitive but usually not the cheapest. When I line-shop mainline spreads and totals against FanDuel, FanDuel more often has the slightly better number. The gap is small on any single bet, but over a season of volume it adds up, so if price is your priority you’ll want both apps open and bet whichever is better on the day. Where DraftKings claws value back is on obscure props and its daily odds boosts, some of those boosts are genuinely good, though plenty just boost long shots that are still poor value, so judge each one on its own.

The welcome offer is the usual “bet a small amount, get bonus bets” structure, but the exact figure shifts constantly, I saw several different versions advertised while writing this. So treat it as the shape of the deal, not a fixed number, and read the current terms in the app before you opt in. Bonus bets are typically non-withdrawable, valid for a few days, and return profit only, not your stake.
The part I rate more highly is DK Dollars. Every wager across sportsbook, casino and DFS earns them, and they’re usable across all three products. - Promo complexity. The offers are frequent but the terms reward careful reading.
My verdict
DraftKings is the most complete sports betting app in the US and, for a serious bettor, hard to do without. The market depth, the live betting and the cross-product rewards are genuinely class-leading. It loses a point for pricing that trails FanDuel and an interface that can overwhelm, but neither is a dealbreaker. It comfortably outguns the newer ESPN BET and theScore Bet apps on market depth, and edges Caesars on app polish.
